Legal Obligation to Preserve E-Mails
The Law-Blog informs (in German) in-depth about the legal obligation to preserve e-mails. In Germany you have to keep all tax-relevant e-mails for 10 years and all business-related e-mails for six years. In my mind it does not make sense to differ between these two sorts. You should keep all mails for ten years. Sorting out the different mails would take too much time.
How about other countries? How long do you have to preserve e-mails? I heard it is six years in UK. Is this right?
